U.S.-Ukraine Talks Amid Aid Concerns

Zelenskyy will not attend the U.S.-Ukraine summit, but his team will try to repair relations after a heated argument between him and former U.S. President Donald Trump on February 28. The discussions will focus on military aid and intelligence support for Ukraine, which has been crucial since Russia’s invasion in 2022.

U.S. Secretary of State Arrives

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also arrived in Jeddah for the talks. He said the U.S. wants to understand Ukraine’s stance on possible peace talks with Russia. Rubio emphasized that Ukraine has suffered greatly and that negotiations may be the only way to end the war.

Europe Left Out

European countries remain skeptical, as they have been excluded from the talks. The European Union recently increased its defense budget in response to the U.S. changing its support for Ukraine.

Intelligence Sharing May Resume

The U.S. had paused intelligence sharing for Ukraine’s offensive operations. However, officials hinted that this may change after the Saudi discussions.
