Kharge Accuses Govt of Creating Dispute Over Waqf Properties

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has accused the government of deliberately creating a dispute over Waqf properties by raising the issue of ‘Waqf by user’. He said this was done to mislead people and stir controversy. Kharge welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to consider the points raised by Congress and other opposition parties on the Waqf (Amendment) Act.
Speaking at a party meeting in Delhi, Kharge also criticized the Enforcement Directorate’s action in the National Herald case. He said that naming Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the chargesheet and attaching National Herald properties in Delhi, Lucknow, and Mumbai was an act of political revenge.
Kharge asserted that Congress will not be scared by these actions. He explained that ‘Young Indian’, the company involved in the case, is a not-for-profit firm, and its shares or properties cannot be transferred or sold. He added that the BJP is spreading lies, and Congress will continue to speak the truth to the people.
The ED has accused Congress leaders of a conspiracy to take control of AJL’s properties worth ₹2,000 crore by paying only ₹50 lakh through Young Indian, where Sonia and Rahul Gandhi hold a majority stake.
